Course Description

In this course, ‘Child Psychology - the Importance of Play’, you learn about the importance of play and how it can affect childhood growth and development. We outline the history and characteristics of play in detail. The course delves into the development of cognitive theory and modern play theory and establishes their contribution to today’s psychological practice. We discuss different opinions and theories of famous philosophers about the childhood role of play.

We then classify various games by the age and characteristics of their players and examine the two basic types of play present in early childhood. Would you like to learn more about the impact that play has on the development of young children? We discuss this in detail and examine the role of play in physical and psychomotor development. The course examines the factors that influence play behaviour in preschoolers and young children. We also identify the role that family and siblings play in defining children's play behaviour, including teaching them different forms of play in early childhood.
