We then go through the steps taken to select the ideal foot protection team while conducting general operational planning. We also describe the responsibilities and tasks of each member of the protection team.

The course then discusses how to conduct a threat assessment to identify the types, sources and potency of threats. We demonstrate drills used to improve safety while embarking and disembarking from a vehicle and show you how to reduce the risk of attack on the ‘Principal’ (or client) while travelling. We explore the principle of ‘embus and debus’, used to enhance safety in transit, and then examine various orthodox and unorthodox drills. The course provides vital information and skills you can use while working alone and goes over vehicle formation strategies that include more personnel.

We establish the benefits of good route selection and go over the principles and phases of reconnaissance conducted before you identify the vulnerable points for the journey and factor in security considerations. The course then identifies various criminal offences and lays out the legal obligations of the close protection team.
