Course Description

This Danish course for beginners will teach you basic vocabulary and language skills to help you communicate with native Danish speakers. Spoken by about six million people worldwide, most living in Denmark, Danish is the official language of this European country. You will start by studying each of the twenty-nine letters in the Danish alphabet before exploring the vocabulary for greetings, self-introductions and expressing good manners. 

We will then introduce vocabulary for a variety of topics that include: colours, food, animals and exercise. You will learn to use these words in simple sentences, giving you the confidence to apply them in conversations. Next, we will explore important verbs in Danish. We will discuss verbs such as ‘to have’, ‘to go’ and ‘to know’ - often changing the form depending on how you use them. There are a few rules to aid your understanding of how to utilize these words correctly when constructing sentences. Additionally, we will review and practise lessons that cover numbers, colours and manners.

The last topic will introduce the lessons on how to tell the time in Danish. You will study the days of the week, months of the year and learn how to describe dates.
