Course Description

Would you like to entertain audiences with your expert guitar-playing skills? This course from Stay Curious Media helps you to master the fingerpicking technique. Our lessons begin with an overview of the history of the fingerstyle guitar technique in which we examine the work of famous artists to immerse you in this musical genre. We then identify the parts of guitars and lay out their different types, components and unique features.

Proper posture is important when it comes to playing the guitar as you need to be able to play for long periods while avoiding any adverse physical side effects. These guitar lessons explain how to form basic chords in the open position before examining simple strumming and fingerpicking patterns. We then explore other chord positions and cover scales and arpeggios. Simple strumming and fingerpicking patterns can become tedious so we introduce you to advanced guitar techniques like sliding, bending, hammer-ons and more.

Finally, the course delves into music theory to widen your understanding of how the guitar works as you learn how to quickly move around its fretboard. Ample practice sessions are included in the ‘Resources’ section of the course and include songs from popular artists to help you develop new skills, techniques and styles that you can apply in your performances. Learning to play the guitar may appear daunting at first but this course is designed to help you master fingerstyle techniques as you develop your own sound.
